Eva Royale
provides Sound Action with expertise in labor and political campaigns
as well as fundraising and events. A lifelong community activist,
Eva has over 30 years of organizing experience with community,
labor and political campaigns. Eva has a BA in Economics and
La Raza Studies from San Francisco State University. With roots
as a SF State student organizer, she is now a lecturer there
on "Urban Community Organizing".
From 1984 to 1987 Eva was Staff Coordinator
of the Mobilization for Peace Jobs and Justice a Bay Area coalition
of over 120 organizations - community, church, labor, student
and peace groups. She coordinated the office, volunteer and fundraising
events. She participated in planning and organizing of its annual
mass marches and spring mobilization rallies of up to 100,000
people in San Francisco.
From 1990 to 2002 she was Regional Manager
for the United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO. This involved
organizing public events, fundraisers, press conferences, marches
and rallies. She was responsible for labor and community outreach,
volunteer recruitment and training, voter registration and Get
Out The Vote (GOTV) campaigns. She led the campaign to re-name
Army Street to Cesar Chavez Street in San Francisco. She continues
to coordinate annual organizing of the Bay Area Cesar E. Chavez
Holiday Parade and Festival and the annual Cesar E. Chavez Birthday
Labor Breakfast in San Francisco.
Since 2003 Eva has been the Development
Director of the Dolores Huerta Foundation. She has developed
and implemented fundraising plans including a founding members
program, major donor program, house party program and many special
events.
Eva has worked on over 20 political campaigns
in positions from field organizer to campaign director. These
campaigns include; Jesse Jackson for President, Latinos for Gore,
Gray Davis for Governor, Nicole Parra for Assembly, Torklason
for State Senate, Art Agnos for Mayor, Willie L Brown for Mayor,
Farm Worker Voter Project AD 30 and San Francisco Democratic
Party Field Organizer in '84 '92 '96 '00.
Eva lives in the Mission District has deep
roots in the San Francisco Latino community. She has consulted
as a Tenant Program Coordinator for the Mission Housing and Development
Corporation and as a Researcher for TRIO, a project of Centro
Latino, Mission Neighborhood Centers and Mission Community Legal
Defense. She has produced many fundraising and media events with
Latino political and cultural leaders such as; Cesar Chavez,
Dolores Huerta, Linda Chavez Thompson, Edward James Olmos, Luis
Valdez, Eva Longoria, Pete Escovedo, Carlos Santana, Jorge Santana,
Salvador Santana and Ozomatli.
